Mentoring is a way for experienced people to give back and pay forward as without acknowledging it enough, we are mentored and advised throughout our own journey!

Great point. Some will feel threatened if you do well, others are pass on the wrong kinds of lessons.
On the value of mentoring, Auden wrote in 1936 of "The four necessary human relationships: to love; to be loved; to be a teacher; to be a pupil."
