Excellent post!

Your post reminded me of the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The protagonist journey teaches us about the wisdom of listening to your hearts, journey is as important as destination, recognizing opportunity, overcoming fears, value of perseverance, to read the signs and omens strewn along life's path, real treasures are within us and, most importantly, following your dreams.

Life makes no sense until you accept its temporary and stop trying to distract your self to hide that fact. We were put here by God yet mankind tries to find the answers everywhere else...it is folly.

That resonates. We're obsessed with that distraction.

‘This worship at the altar of self inevitably fails, for we are not just flawed but mortal.’ - so much of our modern neurosis boils down to this.

This piece stirred something in me. Beautifully written, Frederik.

This is an excellent piece, you are a very talented writer.

Some things that come to mind when reading this:

-Jeff Bezos's 10 000 year clock project

-The increase in GDP over the last 3 000 years and how that has effected society.

I think our species' only meaningful contribution to the universe is our expression of humanity not humanity itself; in your lexicon that would be the statue of or the poem about Ozymandias but not Ozymandias him-her-self. We are Ozymandias

We are, in other words, incidental to our expressions of humanity, our statues, our poems, our acts of love, of kindness, and of hatred. We are dust, but our spiritual echo will ripple through space-time.

The premise of the book is that people live life like they are going to live forever. They then distract themselves with things, money, achievement etc to perpetuate the lie and not face reality.

It is suggested we would be better off if we accepted the fleeting moment life is as Solomon did in the book of Ecclesiates in the Bible thousands of years ago.

In trying to answer the three main questions of life "why am I here?" "Where did I come from?" And " where am I going?" We are all trying to figure out what is already known.

The statue was stolen as usual, rather than received 😆
